The tapered crop is a modern men’s haircut that deliberately uses a square shape on the crown to highlight a strongly defined jawline. The course demonstrates how to create a hairstyle on thick, light-colored hair with a heavy texture, flat sides, and volume at the back—a style that is both practical for everyday wear and has a modern, extravagant character.

Miłosz Mikołajczak guides you through the entire process step by step: from consulting and analyzing thick, light-colored hair, to dividing the head into a "box" at the crown and a triangle at the back, all the way to using a Chinese razor to achieve maximum texture. You’ll see how to build a triangular shape at the back of the head by pulling each successive strand into the first section to flatten the sides while maintaining volume in the center. The taper is created using the descending method on dry hair for maximum precision.

In this course, you'll learn:

  • Using a Chinese razor on the crown of the head – how to create a square shape and a textured look by cutting into individual strands.
  • Creating a triangle at the back of the head – how to pull diagonal sections toward the first section to flatten the sides while maintaining volume at the nape of the neck.
  • Use the descending taper technique on dry hair for maximum precision and control when working with light-colored hair.
  • Blend the bangs into the sides using a free-falling line technique to eliminate any disconnect and give the style an aggressive, triangular shape.
  • Work with a low gradient (1–45 degrees) on the sides to intentionally build volume and create a smooth transition from the clipper to the scissors.
  • Adding a modern touch – how and where to cut a small line behind the ear to give your hairstyle some character without compromising its classic shape.

After this course, you’ll start consciously using geometry—a square on top and a triangle in the back—to sculpt the shape of the head and highlight the client’s best features, such as the jawline. You’ll master the use of a Chinese razor to create an aggressive texture on thick hair and learn how to create a precise taper, which is the foundation of modern men’s hairstyles.
