The Pompadour is a classic men’s haircut that serves as the starting point in this course for learning how to create a versatile, square shape. The course demonstrates how to create a timeless hairstyle from medium-length, slightly wavy hair, based on a precise side part and a key triangle at the top. This technique gives the client both an elegant, sleek look and the freedom for casual, more relaxed everyday styling.

Mateusz Delma Poznański guides you through the entire process step by step: from the conscious decision to work on damp (rather than washed) hair, through his signature method of dividing the head based on its widest and highest points, all the way to creating a square shape using the clipper-on-comb technique. The course emphasizes understanding how the triangle sectioned off at the top becomes the foundation not only for a pompadour, but also for a slick back or side part.

In this course, you'll learn:

  • A unique method for dividing the head into sides and an upper triangle—how to find it using a comb, based on the widest and highest point of the head.
  • Creating a square shape on the sides using the clipper-on-comb technique—proper body posture and wrist movement are key to achieving a clean line.
  • Creating a natural dry taper using the open blade of the clipper and a sweeping motion.
  • A technique for styling the back of the hair borrowed from women's hairstyling (the bob) – how to avoid a flat back of the head by sweeping the central section to the sides.
  • Use thinning shears deliberately only on the ends (1 cm) to "break up the line" and blend sections, not to thin out the hair.
  • The complete styling process using water-based pomade: apply to damp hair, starting at the back and sides, and shape the style with an afro comb.
  • The "top triangle" rule—why what you do with it determines whether your hairstyle is a pompadour, a slick back, or a side part.

After completing this course, you’ll be able to create classic, square-shaped styles in a systematic and consistent manner. You’ll understand how simple sectioning and clipper work on the top create a versatile base that you can finish as a pompadour or any other classic hairstyle, giving your client a timeless look that’s easy to style every day.
